Births, adoptions & change of name ceremonies.
Naming ceremonies are not just for new arrivals!
There are numerous reasons why an individual may want to change their name! Some are obvious and others less so. Why not make that decision life affirming with a ceremony that includes family and friends. An adult naming ceremony can be a wonderful point to acknowledge the past and turn towards the future. You can also make promises to your family and friends to remain true to what the future holds.
Life is precious and there are not enough wonderful moments to share! I want to make your ceremony personal to you so that the special people in your life feel included.
The ceremony can include religious elements or other family traditions, the naming ceremony will also be as individual as the family. The great thing is, you can have it anywhere you would like it to be and invite as many people as you would like! (hotels and other public buildings may have a restriction on numbers).
Why not book a village hall, or have a party in the garden of a hotel. Perhaps a teddy bear's picnic in the woods? You decide where you want your naming ceremony and choose the guide parents you would like to have as supporters.
You decide on location, style and theme you like.
If you would like to have your friends and family around for tea and cake then we can also make that a very relaxing and special event for you to remember.
I have the creative freedom to create a script for the ceremony that will include all the things that are important to you, your family and friends. You can make your own promises to your child in front of your family and friends and you will also be given a certificate to sign on the day and keep as a beautiful memory.
Just imagine, you might make a time capsule, have a sand ceremony or plant a tree? Just doing something to mark the occasion will help to include family and friends and leave a lasting impression with everyone involved and a wonderful memory for everyone taking part.
If you would like to discuss your ideas or have a chat, please give me a call.
What to expect
A naming ceremony is a really enjoyable and relaxed occasion and just happens to be one of my favourite ceremonies, who doesn't enjoy seeing family and friends having a great time together!
First we will chat about your ideas and arrange to meet. Once you have confirmed, I will ask for a 50% deposit or we can discuss alternative payment arrangements.
We will meet face to face over a coffee or tea and chat about your ideas and the things you want to include. You will have the opportunity to talk about your choice of name, your stories, your future plans and your dreams as a family.
You can also include guide parents or mentors in your ceremony and we can prepare some promises for them to make on ceremony day, these will be straight forward both in content and the reply.
On the day, I shall arrive in good time and make sure everything is ready before we begin our ceremony.
